Annotating a PDF: FAQ

Are the annotations flattened into the page image?

No. Highlights, underlines, rectangles, arrows and freehand strokes are written as vector objects and stay crisp when zoomed or printed.

Can I undo a mark I drew by mistake?

Yes. Undo and redo cover annotations along with every other edit, and a selected annotation can be deleted outright.

Can I move or resize an annotation after drawing it?

Yes. Switch to Select and edit, drag the annotation to move it, and drag a corner to resize it.

Can other people see my comments in Acrobat?

The marks are drawn into the page content, so every reader shows them. They are not threaded comment notes that a reviewer can reply to.

Can I black out confidential information this way?

A filled rectangle hides the text visually but the text underneath remains in the file. True redaction removes the underlying content and is not available yet.
